How to activate Roaming

  • On arrival your phone will display all the networks existing the destination country. If not please, switch off your mobile phone and switch it on upon or restart it. The phone will automatically connect to/ show the network(s). If the phone does not automatically connect to the roaming partner, you can set this manually via the Network Selection option on your phone
  • Ensure you have sufficient airtime/credit balance in your phone. There is no minimum or maximum amount required. This will depend on the network you choose to roam with, for more details about out Roaming tariffs please see the Roaming tariffs tabs.

VODACOM ROAMING BUNDLES TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. Definitions;
  • 1.1 Roaming are voice, SMS and data services only available when the Customer is outside Tanzania
  • 1.1.1 There are four types of Roaming bundles as follows;
  • 1.1.1.1 Roaming integrated bundle. This provides for voice (calling& receiving minutes), SMS and data
  • 1.1.1.2 Social Roaming bundle. This is for exclusively Facebook and WhatsApp
  • 1.1.1.3 Voice only. This bundle provides for voice minutes only for calling and receiving calls while abroad. Receiving calls outside Tanzania is chargeable, thus this bundle provides for minutes for receiving calls.
  • 1.1.1.4 Data only. This bundle provides for data only while abroad
  • 1.1.2 Roaming bundles are available for either all networks in the visited country or for a specific network in the visited country.
  • 1.1.2.1 For all networks in the visited country, a Customer can subscribe any of the above types of Roaming bundles except Social Roaming bundle.
  • 1.1.2.2 For a specific network in the visited country, a Customer can subscribe any of the above types of Roaming bundles and must attach to that specific network.
  • 1.2 Pay As You Go means Out of Bundle charges/rates applicable for any use of the Services

2. Applicability
  • 2.1 These Terms and Conditions hereinafter ("Terms and Conditions/Conditions of Use") as shall be used interchangeably) are issued by Vodacom Tanzania PLC (hereinafter “Vodacom” or “we” or “us” “ourselves” or “our”) and are applicable to Vodacom Subscribers/Customers (“Customer”) (hereinafter “you” or “your” or “user” “yourself”) who use Roaming services (“Services”).
  • 2.2 Please read these Terms and Conditions, and Vodacom General Subscriber Terms and Conditions that shall form part of these Terms and Conditions obtained from Vodacom website. For the purposes of the terms and conditions covered herein the provision in these Terms and Conditions shall prevail in any event of contradictions between these Terms and Conditions, and Vodacom General Subscriber Terms and Conditions.

3. Charges and Nature of Services
    • 3.1 The Services are available for only Vodacom Prepaid, Hybrid and Postpaid Customers
    • 3.2 Customers can purchase or subscribe for the Services either while in Tanzania or outside Tanzania. However, in case You purchase your bundle(s) while still in Tanzania, you are advised to observe the bundle validity period or Your plan travel to avoid bundle depletion amid travel.
    • 3.3 Roaming bundles can be purchased through all Vodacom channels namely USSD menu via code (*149*01#), (*149*71#), My Vodacom app, Vodacom Tanzania website and, via bundles> Roaming.
    • 3.4 Customers can only use and enjoy the Services while roaming outside Tanzania upon subscription.
    • 3.5 The Services can be purchased either through Airtime or Mpesa,
    • 3.6 You can buy Roaming bundles for self or buy for a friend.
    • 3.7 All prices of Roaming bundles are available on the Vodacom website https://www.vodacom.co.tz/. and includes VAT.
    • 3.8 You can subscribe to more than one Roaming bundle at any point in time.
    • 3.9 You can check the bundle balance by dialing *149*60# or airtime balance by dialing *102# free of charge. This service is also available outside the country

    4. Knowing Your Service Plan
    • 4.1 If You are a prepaid Customer, you must make sure you have enough airtime in your SIM card. It all depends on your needs and usage when you roam. Also you can set spend limit for data..
    • 4.2 If you are a postpaid Customer, you must contact your key account manager in order to activate roaming services when abroad.

    5. Out of Bundle/ Pay as you go (PAYG)
    • 5.1 Pay As You Go charges shall apply by default if the Customer uses the Services out of bundle for specific country or use the Services for destination where Vodacom has not yet launched bundles. Normal out of bundle rates/charges will be applicable at this point as published on the Vodacom’s website.
    • 5.2 Pay As You Go rates for international and roaming customers vary depending on the country.
    • 5.3 It is the responsibility of the Customer to familiarize themselves with the applicable rates and charges for Vodacom’s Roaming services. These rates and charges are subject to change.
    • 5.4 Always visit the Vodacom Tanzania website https://vodacom.co.tz or alternatively contact Vodacom’s Customer Care on 100 for calling when you are in Tanzania or +255754700000 for calling when abroad free of charge, for the most up to date rates and charges. Also customer can WhatsApp number +255754100100
    • 5.5 PAYG Tariffs are per the visited country network, for lower rates always ensure that you are roaming on an appropriate Vodacom, Safaricom or Vodafone partner networks. However, you are highly advised to determine Your plan prior travelling and find the affordable network to roam with especially in countries with no Vodacom or Vodafone network.
    • 5.6 Vodacom preferred networks are referred as “Vodacom" to Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Mozambique, Lesotho and South Africa and Safaricom Kenya in Africa. Also in Europe Vodacom is referred as “Vodafone" to Albania, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Turkey, United King dom. Also Ghana and Egypt in Africa.
    • 55.7 If a Customer’s bundle has depleted or has not subscribed to any Roaming bundle and he/she makes or receives some calls while abroad, he/she will be deducted from his/her airtime wallet.
    • 5.8 For Roaming out bundle usage, the charging interval/ utilization of Minutes and data depend on the co-agreement we have with respective roaming partner. A Customer can request for this information free of charge from any nearly reach point like Vodacom shop, service desk, key account manager, or call our customer care on 100 when in Tanzania or +255754700000 when outside Tanzania.

    6. Validity of Roaming bundles
    • 6.1 Validity of the bundle is the period of which a bundle is valid to be used.
    • 6.2 Daily bundles are valid for 24 hours from time of purchase
    • 6.3 Weekly bundles are valid for 7 days from date of purchase
    • 6.4 Monthly bundles are valid for 30 days from date of purchase
    • 6.5 Once you have consumed all of your awarded bundle within the validity period or has expired, out of bundle rate will be applied.
    • 6.6 You can buy another bundle of same validity or different validity at any point in time. Priority of usage will be given to the first bought bundle. Where the later bought bundles' validity is lesser than the previous bought bundle then the priority of usage will shift to the lesser validity bundle.
    • 6.7 Customers will not be able to use their bundle past the validity period. Unused bundle offered will be rolled over if You subscribe for a new bundle before expiry of the validity period. If You subscribe for a new bundle after the expiry of the validity period, the unused bundle will be forfeited and all in bundle services will be stopped by default immediately after validity period is over

    7. Time of use and Speed
    • 7.1 All Roaming bundles can be used at any time of the day within the specified validity of the bundle
    • 7.2 Also, ensure that You attach to a respective country network mentioned in the bundle to enjoy the bundle. However, if no specific country network is mentioned You can use the bundle with any network in the visited country.

      • 8. Connecting to the roaming network
        • 8.1 While roaming, your mobile device may automatically select a different foreign network depending on the network coverage conditions.
        • 8.2 In case your phone has not picked foreign network, turn your phone off then on (restart your phone). In case your phone has not connected after restarting it, then you can select network manually as follows;
        • 8.2.1 If you are an IPhone user go to settings >> mobile data >>Network selections >> choose your preferred network to roam with the roaming partners / networks.
        • 8.2.2 If you are an Android user go to settings >> connections >>Mobile Networks >>Networks operators>> choose your preferred network to roam with the roaming partners / networks.

        9. Services available while roaming
        • 9.1 While roaming; you can browse internet, make and receive calls, send and receive SMS, use M-Pesa, just as you would while in Tanzania.
        • 9.2 Not all roaming services available to Vodacom contract/Postpaid customers will be available to Hybrid and Prepaid customers.
        • 9.3 However, all the above services in clause 9.1 may not be available on all foreign networks while roaming. Some services may be available on one foreign network i.e. you can roam only with either voice and SMS but not data.
        • 9.4 The availability of services depends on the agreement we have with respective roaming partner and coverage of the network. In some cases, roaming services may be available for postpaid Customers but not for Pre-paid customers.
        • 9.5 In case you fail to use the roaming service outside the country, do the following;
        • 9.5.1 Make sure that your mobile phone indicates the network of your preferred roaming partner in the country you are roaming. (Check Vodacom roaming partners in the country your visiting by visiting our website (www.vodacom.co.tz)
        • 9.5.2 Ensure that the settings of your mobile phone are correct to enable you roam outside the country. For example: Turn on data and Data roaming functionality in your phone/device every time you want to use internet.
        • 9.5.3 Ensure that you have sufficient airtime or you have subscribed to a correct bundle.

        10. Bill Shock/ Data spend limit
        • 10.1 Recognizing roaming is expensive, Vodacom has enabled you to set your maximum usage for data while roaming. This is due to fact that you may incur data charges even if no content is purchased or downloaded since small amounts of data being transmitted every few seconds by the website/application (e.g. website refreshing, banner ads being pushed in the background, etc.).
        • 10.2 Please ensure that you close all unused applications while roaming. Vodacom accepts no liability for any unintentional data downloads your device may make.

        11. Other Applicable Terms and Conditions
        • 11.1 These Terms and Conditions shall be read together with Vodacom General Subscriber Terms and Conditions.
        • 11.2 In the event of inconsistence, overlapping or contradictory between these terms and conditions and Vodacom General Subscriber Terms and Conditions, the order of precedence and applicability shall be these Terms and Conditions followed by Vodacom General Subscriber Terms and Conditions.
        • 11.3 Any Subscriber and or Customer using the Services provided under these Terms and Conditions shall be deemed to have read and understood the Terms and Conditions.
        • 11.4 We have a right to suspend the Services:
        • 11.1.1 If You use the Service for any unauthorized purposes;
        • 11.1.2 If we detect any abuse/misuse, breach of content, fraud or attempted fraud relating to your use of the Service;
        • 11.1.3 If we are required or requested to do so in order to comply with an order or instruction of or a recommendation from the government, court, regulator or other competent authority;
        • 11.1.4 If we reasonably suspect or believe that you are in breach of these Conditions of Use;
        • 11.1.5 If required to do so to address technical problems or for reasons of ensuring safety upon reasonable notice to you;
        • 11.1.6 To facilitate update or upgrade the contents or functionality of the Service from time to time upon reasonable notice to you;
        • 11.1.7 If we decide to suspend or cease the provision of the Service for commercial reasons or for any other reason as we may reasonably determine.

        12. Cancellation of Services
        • 12.1 You cannot cancel the use of Services upon subscription of a bundle prior to the expiry of the validity period. The Services will be cancelled upon expiry of the bundle validity period.

        13. Changes to These Terms and Conditions
        • 13.1 We may add to or change this Conditions of Use in accordance with clause 9.2. We may add new fees and charges or change existing fees and charges at any time; as a direct result of new legislation, statutory instrument, Government regulations or licenses, rates of exchange, imposition or alteration of government tax or as a result of any review of Vodacom’s business planning, changes within the industry, recommendations from regulatory bodies or for such other reason as it may determine.
        • 13.2 We will let you know in advance if we add to or change these terms and conditions or if we add new fees and charges or change existing ones during or after the subscription of the Services. The amount and type of notice that we will give you will follow the necessary channel that apply and available at that time. (For example, we may notify you by letter, electronic mail, telephone (including recorded message or text SMS) or by an advertisement in gazette daily or weekly newspaper or in our website or any other means), you are advised also to visit our website from time to time to view the changes in case due to some unforeseen reasons you might not receive updates notification.
        • 13.3 If we change or add to these Terms and Conditions and you are not happy to accept the changes, you may terminate this Terms and Conditions as per Clause 14 below. If you do not ask us to end this Condition of Use and still using the Services, you are deemed to accept the changes on their effective date.

        14. Termination of Services and or Conditions of Use
        • 14.1 We may terminate this Conditions of Use at any time at our sole discretion. Such termination shall be subject to notifying you. Notification may be by letter, electronic mail, telephone (including recorded message or text SMS) or by an advertisement in gazette daily or weekly newspaper or in our website or any other means. You are advised also to visit our website from time to time to view the changes in case due to some unforeseen reasons you might not receive updates notification.
        • 14.2 You may terminate these Terms and Conditions by stopping using our Services covered hereunder.

        15. General
        • 15.1 We will not be liable for any delay or failure in performing any our obligations in respect of the use of the Services where such delay or failure occurs because of any circumstances beyond our Service’s reasonable control.
        • 15.2 You may not vary any of these Condition of Use and you may not transfer these terms to any other person or business.
        • 15.3 These Conditions of Use shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with Tanzania law.
        • 15.4 We shall not be liable for any Indirect and or Consequential loss
        • 15.5 All communications under these Terms and Conditions shall be in either English or Swahili.
        • 15.6 Customer Care
        • 15.1.1 You may contact us through our customer care center lines 100 or other customer care contacts provided channels on our social media or Website (i.e. TOBi Online or Submit enquires) to report any disputes, claims or discrepancies in the Service.
        • 15.1.2 Our customer care representatives will handle the reported case(s) in accordance with our standard complaint handling procedures available in our retail shops and on our website.
        • 15.1.3 We may record or monitor phone calls to our Customer Care Center or any touch point with you for training purposes, to enable instructions to be verified and to assess whether our service standards are being met.
        • 15.1.4 We may transfer to any other person any or all of its rights and/or obligations under these Condition of Use subject to notifying you. Notwithstanding the foregoing, your legal rights will not be affected and your obligations will not be increased as a result. You may not transfer your rights and obligations under these Condition of Use.

        16. Communication & Complaints
        • 16.1 If you wish to enquire more details call through our customer service hotline as stated hereinabove
        • 16.2 If you are not satisfied with any aspect of the service offered, please contact Customer Care. They will be pleased to help and explain the complaints procedure in more detail. We will try and resolve your complaint as soon as possible. Often however, the complaint will need to be investigated. If this is the case, we will respond to you within 7 Business Days to acknowledge receipt of your complaint and we may respond to you how long it will take for your complaint to be resolved. If your complaint cannot be resolved, you will be advised accordingly.

VODACOM INTERNATIONAL CALLING AND SMS PAYG AND BUNDLES TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. Definitions;
  • 1.1 International calling / SMS bundles are bundles that enable Vodacom Customers to call or send SMS outside the Country when in the Country. These cover international voice calls and SMS bundles and out of bundle usage
  • 1.2 Pay As You Go (PAYG) means out of bundle charges/rates applicable for any use of the Services
  • 1.3 Country means United Republic of Tanzania

2. Applicability
  • 2.1 These Terms and Conditions hereinafter ("Terms and Conditions/Conditions of Use") as shall be used interchangeably) are issued by Vodacom Tanzania PLC (hereinafter “Vodacom” or “we” or “us” “ourselves” or “our”) and are applicable to Vodacom Subscribers/Customers (“Customer”) (hereinafter “you” or “your” or “user” “yourself”) who use international calling and SMS PAYG and bundles (“Services”).
  • 2.2 Please read these Terms and Conditions, and Vodacom General Subscriber Terms and Conditions that shall form part of these Terms and Conditions obtained from Vodacom website. For the purposes of the terms and conditions covered herein the provision in these Terms and Conditions shall prevail in any event of contradictions between these Terms and Conditions, and Vodacom General Subscriber Terms and Conditions.

3. Charges and Nature of Services
    • 3.1 The Services are available to all active prepaid, postpaid and hybrid customers
    • 3.2 For calling; Customers can either make mobile or land line calls basing on their needs.
    • 3.3 For calls made to the UK (United Kingdom) there are two options;
    • 3.3.1 For landline calls only Customers may subscribe for Combo Super Pack bundles
    • 3.3.2 For Mobile Calls only Customers may subscribe for Europe bundles..
    • 3.4 For SMS; Customers can send mobile SMS to friends and family who are outside Tanzania.
    • 3.5 International calling/ SMS bundles can be purchased through all Vodacom channels namely via a USSD code (*149*01#), (*149*71#), My Vodacom app, Vodacom Tanzania website via bundles> International
    • 3.6 The Services must be used within Tanzania.
    • 3.7 The Services can be purchased either through Airtime or Mpesa,
    • 3.8 You can buy International calling/ SMS bundles for self or buy for a friend.
    • 3.9 All prices of International calling/ SMS bundles are available on all the above Vodacom purchasing channels and on the Vodacom website. All prices are VAT inclusive.
    • 3.10 You can subscribe to more than one bundle, or any other bundle at any point in time.
    • 3.11 You can check the balance by dialing *149*60# free of charge

    4. Out of Bundle/ Pay as you go (PAYG)
    • 4.1 Pay As You Go charges shall apply by default if the Customer uses the Services out of bundle for specific country or use the Service for destination where Vodacom has not yet launched bundles. Normal out of bundle rates or charges will be applicable at this point as published on the Vodacom’s website.
    • 4.2 It is the responsibility of the Customer to familiarize themselves with the applicable PAYG rates and charges for making international calls/ SMS using Vodacom’s International Calling services. These rates and charges are subject to change from time to time.
    • 4.3 Pay As You Go rates for international calls and SMS vary depending on the country.
    • 4.4 For International Calling Services for PAYG, the charging interval/ utilization is per 1 (one) second for all destinations except in destinations whose codes are +882, +883, +888 which is per 60 (sixty) seconds.
    • 4.5 Charging interval/ utilization is the minimum chargeable unit per instance of use.

    5. Validity of International calling and SMS bundles
    • 5.1 Validity of the bundle is the period of which a bundle is valid to be used.
    • 5.2 Daily bundles are valid for 24 hours from time of purchase
    • 5.3 Weekly bundles are valid for 7 days from date of purchase
    • 5.4 Monthly bundles are valid for 30 days from date of purchase
    • 5.5 Once You have consumed all of your awarded bundle within the validity period or has expired, out of bundle rate will be applied.
    • 5.6 You can buy another bundle of same validity or different validity at any point in time. Priority of usage will be given to the first bought bundle. Where the later bought bundles' validity is lesser than the previous bought bundle then the priority of usage will shift to the lesser validity bundle.
    • 5.7 Customers will not be able to use their bundle past the validity period. Unused bundle offered will be rolled over if you subscribe for a new bundle before expiry of the validity period of the previous bundle. If You subscribe for a new bundle after the expiry of the validity period, the unused bundle will be forfeited and all in bundle services will be stopped by default immediately after validity period is over.

    6. Time of use and Speed
    • 6.1 All International calling and SMS bundles can be used at any time of the day within the specified validity of the bundle.

    7. Other Applicable Terms and Conditions
    • 7.1 These Terms and Conditions shall be read together with Vodacom General Subscriber Terms and Conditions.
